the heart and hands behind Fiona Elizabeth Couture.
As a little girl, I too, was the one twirling in front of the mirror, playing dress-up with my sisters and dressing dolls in fancy frocks.
Inspired by watching my grandma sew, I began crafting tiny dresses for my Barbie dolls, escaping into a magical world where everything sparkled. Those early moments sparked my love for fashion and design.
MY JOURNEY
I went on to study fashion and costume through De Montfort University, specialising in corsetry, embellishment, and tailoring. My career began in luxury lingerie and fashion, but my true calling emerged when I discovered the bridal industry while working at a boutique. It was there I honed my skills as a seamstress, perfecting fits and making bespoke adjustments so every bride felt her gown was made just for her. Yet, I couldn’t ignore how many brides settled for a dress that wasn’t “quite right.”
2018 was a year to remember – my own wedding gave me the chance to create the dress of my dreams. I’ve always had an eye for something a little different (and I do love a good treasure hunt at TK Maxx!), so a traditional ivory gown was never going to be for me.
In fact, I didn’t even try one on! I already knew what would suit me and truly reflect my style.
The result was a three-piece masterpiece: a hand-dyed silk corset featuring a panel from my grandma’s wedding dress, a voluminous tulle skirt, and a delicate, long-sleeved overdress adorned with blue lace appliqués, shimmering Swarovski crystals, and tiny handmade flowers that scattered across the entire train.
Creating my wedding dress was a transformative moment, and it sparked a bigger vision: I wanted every bride to feel this same magic. From that dream, Fiona Elizabeth Couture was born.
Today, my passion lies in creating unique, one-of-a-kind wedding gowns that celebrate individuality
Incorporating soft tones through layered tulle, hints of colour with hand-dyed lace appliqués, and delicate floral embellishments, ensuring each dress is as unforgettable as the love it represents.
